Encounter With Christ College Retreat

The Encounter-with-Christ, a coed retreat for college students, is essentially a religious formation program grounded in Christian incarnational theology. The framework consists of talks dealing with issues that are basic to the understanding of oneself, other people, and God from a college student’s perspective. This weekend retreat provides a Christian community in which one can “encounter” God through engaging activities, discussions, prayer, and personal reflection. Each presentation, or talk, is followed by a period for reflection and discussion (in small groups). Participants are invited to react both on the intellectual and emotional levels. The Encounter is open to students of all Christian faiths, but it is a retreat experience with a Catholic identity.

Each weekend is directed by a team of college students (who are former Encounter participants) with support from lay men and women, religious and priests, working together to provide friendliness, acceptance, and religious conviction. Each experience is unique to every participant with the understanding that the Encounter process does not begin and end with the retreat, but continues in the Christian community back at the participant’s college.

2009-2010 Application

So we've finally gotten the applications for this little shindig. If you're interested please fill out the application attached and send it back to Burr Datz.

Just to emphasize a few points, once you've committed to attend you've COMMITTED to attend. Unless you have a very good reason for backing out we're going to be expecting you to attend

Don't worry about the fee that's posted at the bottom of the application. That will be taken care of when the time comes.

The January and March weekends have a few problems you will need to think about before you commit. The January retreat is four hours away and is a little problematic for us since we're so far away. Rats are reminded that they won't be able to attend the January retreat because of this fact.

The March weekend ends right in the middle of Spring Furlough. If you want to attend the March retreat you will need to find your own way back home after it's over.

This retreat is a truly great experience and I encourage all of you to attend. Any questions about it see Dan Michnewich, Burr Datz, or myself.
